COMPANY OVERVIEW
The NHHEAF Network Organizations are comprised of three active 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies - New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF), Granite State Management & Resources (GSM&R) and New Hampshire Higher Education Loan Corporation (NHHELCO) - which provide outstanding college access programs for New Hampshire students, families and schools. GSM&R, through NHHELCO, was awarded a contract for the servicing of federal student loans owned by the U.S. Department of Education in April 2012. The contract leverages GSM&R''s operating infrastructure and its unwavering commitment to support borrowers toward successful student loan repayment.
JOB FUNCTION
Inform student loan borrowers of their options in an effort to prevent loans from defaulting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
o Analyze all incoming claim submissions for reimbursement to ensure that the claims are in compliance with federal mandates.
o Reject claim submissions for non-compliance.
o Counsel and advise borrower(s) through telephonic and written communication of their options and repayment obligations in an effort to prevent default.
o Communicate with Lenders/Servicers on borrowers behalf to update account(s) and resolve disputes.
o Update borrower account pursuant to Lenders/Servicers requests.
o Responsible for researching and posting all internal payments, agency remittances and credit card paymentsreceived daily.
o Prepare check requests for Finance.
o Balance and maintain daily batch reports as well as month-end spreadsheets.
o Process refunds on claims.
o Prepare Loan Verification Certificates for consolidation lenders.
o Process all rehabilitation and repurchase requests from borrowers/servicers.
o Responsible for handling all bankruptcy cases.
o Communicate with outside collection agencies regarding placements and payment questions.
o Responsible for all external placement of accounts for collections.
o Receives and resolves school related calls.
o Review, analyze, and render decisions on all loan origination transactions included, but not limited to: alternative loans, generate credit reports and decision credit applications and generate appropriate approval and denial letters.
REQUISITE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
oHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 2 - 3 years experience in payment processing and customer service.
oAbility to apply learned business skills such as business English and general office procedures.- if gte mso 9 >800x600 endif ->
o Ability to apply visual, comprehension, strong interpersonal, effective listening, problem solving, prioritizing, organizational, analytical, multi-tasking and customer/employee relations skills in the performance of all essential job functions.
o Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow verbal and written instructions.
o Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with or without the use of interpretive devices.
o Ability to use general office equipment such as computer, phone, fax, copier, calculator, etc., with or without reasonable accommodation.
o Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time in order to perform essential job functions.
